What is Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)?

Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based treatment, meaning that it has been proven by research to be effective for a wide range of struggles. CBT is a present-focused, goal-oriented intervention that takes a proactive and practical approach to problem-solving. Although past experiences will be discussed and processed, as they are of utmost importance and inform the way we view the world, CBT emphasizes the here and now and aims to teach you to take charge of your life. CBT is centered on how your thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes affect your feelings and behaviors. By learning skills to identify and change unhelpful thought and behavioral patterns, you will be able to work toward your goals and observe noticeable improvements in your mental and emotional state.
